In Wretch you play as a paranormal investigations team. for the first 12 hours (10 in game minutes) the players are given time to set up and prepare. Once the 12 hour mark has passed, it becomes night and the spirits become aggressive. The ultimate goal is survival. Use your tools to keep track of the demonic spirit and avoid at all costs!

Wretch (Wraith Recon and Entity Trackers for Cursed Hauntings)

was originally created for the 2024 32Bit jam. Games submitted must look like it visually fits in with the ps1 era of games, and the jam's theme was 24 hours. The Jam was two weeks long. The game will be missing content and have bugs. Basic quality of life features like a setting menu have yet to be implemented.

This game will continue development through the 32bit spring cleaning jam.

GUIDE:

The ghost is very difficult to see with the naked eye, especially in the dark! Players need to set up tools throughout the environment in attempt to keep track of where its at. Be careful! The ghost doesn't want you here and using tools to observe it will eventually make it angry! The ghost roams the house but once angered will lash out at anyone nearby!

Currently the only tools available to track the ghost are the cameras scattered throughout the house. Camera's are off by default. Press E to pick them up and move them. While holding a camera, pressing left mouse will turn it on. There is a monitor in the dining room which allows players to cycle through cameras. If a camera isn't on, the screen will remain black.

This game is supposed to be a 32-bit game?

your game is featured in my video :)

Interesting premise, yet so far the execution is very poor.

I do understand that this was primarily made for the jam and that the project is still in development, yet the basic idea of what the player is supposed to do in the game is missing. I would highly recommend spending more time with setting up simple tutorial, or at least basic print of what the objects are and how the game works in general, as I was super lost, running around empty rooms clicking on cameras, in addition to that the TV monitor did not work, even after pressing E numerous times.

Again, decent looking game, but it needs a simple explanation of what the player is supposed to do. Hope the updates will fix that. Best of luck with the development.

I totally agree. The plan was to have several items in the game that allow you to get info on where the ghost is, and more items in a room make it easier to locate. Future updates will quickly bring more items, but for now the cameras are the only tool. Because I cant update the game during the jam's review period, I'll do a write up in the games description explaining how to play with just the camera. I'll give a quick explanation here so you don't have to search around.

Pressing E on the monitor cycles through cameras, even if they aren't active. the screen will remain black if a camera isn't on. to turn a camera on, press left mouse while holding it. Active cameras make the ghost angry, if it stops in a room with active cameras, it can become angry and hunt. With the way things are currently, the game is extremely difficult as finding the ghost with just the cameras is hard. The environment is dark, and the ghost only shows up as a dark figure on camera. The camera's current FOV makes it very difficult to see an entire room. These things will improve in future updates.

Thanks for your feedback!
